Richard Hamer is CEO of Deft Research. He has more than 15 years experience as a health services researcher. His career is characterized by practical research that contributes to client’s businesses. From 1992 to 2004 Mr. Hamer was the Executive Director of InterStudy. During that time he grew that business from a one person department, to a 20 person, $4 million enterprise.
Highlights of Mr. Hamer’s career include:
- Leading his teams to winning
strategies including market segment emphases, sales force
deployment, and product development.
- Directing development of new products and services ranging from new data collection methods, to development of web-based syndicated platforms.
- Working with clientele to conceptualize and realize multi-client
and syndicated research.
Mr. Hamer is the primary author of several major research
publications including the InterStudy Competitive Edge (16
editions), and multi-client studies on information technology in
HMOs, financial status of HMOs, the indemnity health insurance
market, the self-insured employer health plan market, and the
operations of PPOs. He is a secondary author of a major
publication (book), Managed Care and the Treatment of Chronic
Illness, 2001, (Sage Publications), and of several articles
appearing in peer reviewed journals. Mr. Hamer has done public
speaking at various industry conferences.
Mr. Hamer has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Minnesota and a Master of Arts degree from the
University of Toronto.
