SNP (C-SNP and D-SNP) Experience Study

Available: June 30, 2026

Overview

Despite the abolition of the quarterly SEP, total year switching within the D-SNP space still towers over switching across the rest of MA. And the jostling for pole position within the new realm of HIDE/FIDE means that some carriers are pressing harder on C-SNP to protect current D-SNP membership.

Regardless of the reason, it’s harder now to hold onto SNP membership. But with financial pressures still significant in the non-SNP space, carriers must work to provide the best experience possible with these underserved beneficiaries.

The 2026 SNP (C-SNP and D-SNP) Experience Study is a powerful blueprint for carriers and agencies to follow, helping them to best serve those who are dually eligible, as well as those with specific demanding health conditions.

Insights From the 2025 Report

Broker Support Drives Retention and Satisfaction for Duals

More than half of all Duals rely on help when applying for Medicare Assistance, with brokers being a primary source of support. Brokers not only help Duals maintain their coverage during Medicaid redetermination, but their ongoing engagement also improves beneficiaries’ understanding of their plan, leading to higher retention. When Duals feel the recertification process is easy, they are far more likely to recommend their D-SNP plan, renew coverage, and give top CAHPS scores compared to others.
